between costs and needs of drug’s use, the actual drug inventory at Thien Hanh General Hospital (Daklak) during the
period of 2015 – 2019 was assessed by combined ABC – VEN – XYZ – FSN analysis. A remarkable increase in the
yearly total quantity and consumption value of drugs was recorded (969 – 1112 drugs; 59.95 – 73.33 billion VND). The
structures of drug utilization proved relatively stable by ABC, VEN, FSN analysis. Meanwhile, group E (essential) and
group S (slow) always rated the highest. By XYZ analysis, group Z (unstable) attained the most quantity (72.87%).
matrix in 2019 included 33 categories which were grouped from 564 drugs of very frequent use over these 4 years (2016 – 2019) and 5 years (2015 – 2019); the category CEZS attained the greatest quantity of 211 drugs (37.41 %) and needed to focus on in inventory management. Besides, implementation of these four-analysis techniques, either individually or in combination. showed desirably suitable for getting valuable information on the situation of inventory management (i.e. cost, essential drug, drug’s uncertainty, drug’s comsumption) for improvement and optimization of inventory management efficacy.
