TÓM TẮT

According to using days of therapy (DOTs), a cross-sectional study was conducted to evaluate the antibacterial use in the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City in 2 years (01/04/2016 – 31/03/2018). A total of 28.164 medical records (25.468 patients) were reviewed. Most patients (92.05 %) admitted to hospital one-time-only and 49.42 % of patients were children. The number of patients who used one antibiotic accounted for 71.96 %. The most commonly prescribed antibiotic was ceftriaxone (7.756 cases made up 27.54 %), whereas cefotaxime and cefepime were used at least (each drug included 3 cases, comprised 0.01 %). The DOTs per 1000 patient days (DOTs/1000PDs) was 822.14. In the first year of study (04/2016 – 03/2017), the DOTs/1000PDs was 839.46 and decreased by 4.28 % in the second year (04/2017 – 03/2018). There was a slight decline in the slope of the regression line of DOTs/1000PDs with 6.44 (95% confidence interval [6.23 – 6.64]) after one-year implementing Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.
