TÓM TẮT

This study was conducted to evaluate the antioxidant and cytotoxicity effects of the extract of seeds of Michelia tonkinensis A. Chev collected in Hoa Binh Province. Ethanol extracts and fractional extracts (n-hexane, dichloromethan, ethylacetate, water) were tested for cytotoxic activity on cancer cell lines (A549, MCF7, HCT116, and B16F10); and free radical scavenging ability of the extracts by DPPH radical scavenging assay. In which EtOAc extract of the seeds of M. tonkinensis has the best antioxidant effect with IC 50 value of 37.21 ± 1.07 µg/mL, compared with ascorbic acid is 21.82 ± 1.09 µg / mL; the fraction extracts of the seeds show the weak cytotoxic activity on all four cancer cell lines with 136 TẠP CHÍ Y DƯỢC HỌC SỐ 2 – THÁNG 9/2020
IC 50 values higher than 100 µg/mL. These preliminary results show the potential of using the seeds of M. tonkinensis in the treatment of oxidative diseases, and need more in-depth studies on chemical composition and mechanism of action.
