Summary
Artemether possesses various pharmacological properties including anticancer but poor solubility of artemether leads to poor bioavailability in the oral dosage forms. Nanoscale delivery carriers can increase the bioavailability of artemether. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of several factors of formulation and process parameters on physical characteristics of artemether – loaded ethylcellulose nanoparticles (ARTM-EC NPs) in order to optimize the formulation. ARTM-EC NPs were made by oil/water emulsion evaporation method. The formulated ARTM-EC NPs were near – spherical and approximately of 98 nm in diameter as determined by dynamic light scattering. In the environment of pH 5 and pH 7.4, the release of drug from ARTM-EC NPs was almost similar.
