Summary

Herbal Siegesbeckiae is an important herb that has been used in East Asia traditional medicine for the treatment of back pain, knee pain, bone and joint pain, numb limbs, and boils. In this study, an HPLC-PAD method was developed and validated to simultaneously determine kirenol and darutoside in Herbal Siegesbeckiae. The linearity ranges of method are 9–75 µg/ml for kirenol and 6–45 µg/ml for darutoside. The limits of detection and limits of quantitation of the method are 1.7 and 5.1 µg/ml for kirenol, 1.3 and 3.9 µg/mL for darutoside, respectively. All the recoveries for the spiked analytes ranged 98.0 %–102.0 %. The content of kirenol and darutoside in Herbal Siegesbeckiae grown in Vietnam range 0.049 % – 0.239 % and 0.050 % – 0.089 %, respectively, based on absolute dry samples. These results suggest an upgrade quatitative control of the Herbal Siegesbeckiae collected in Vietnam.
