Summary
Lung cancer is the most common cancer and by far the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Treatment of lung cancer is done with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, but they have been known to have several side effects on patients. Recently, there has been an interest in identifying compounds from herbal plants for the treatment of lung cancer due to their efficacy and safety. Turmeric (Vietnamese name: Nghệ vàng; Curcuma longa L.) contains curcumin, which has been shown to highly inhibit lung cancer. The compound is also found to be safe for patients even when applied at high doses. This study, therefore, aims to establish a lung cancer-inducing model in mice, and test for the anticancer effect of floating tablets containing 100 mg of curcumin on the model through macroscopic and microscopic studies. The results showed that curcumin inhibited the growth of lung cancer cells on the model.
Key words: Lung cancer, lung cancer – inducing model, curcumin.
